Our promise

For every report and suggestion made via Tell Florence, we promise:

  1. To ensure it is shared with someone who can do something about it.
  2. To protect your identity, if you've asked us to do.

Clever Together, the company behind Tell Florence, has spent more than a decade helping to bring the voice of people into the process of change. During this time, we've engaged over a million people through surveys, online workshops, focus groups and everything in between.

Sharing your reports and suggestions

We promise to ensure your report or suggestion is shared with someone who can do something about it. Here is how.

For Trusts with subscriptions to Tell Florence, we have named contacts for each category of submission and for each directorate. Every validated submission will therefore be shared with at least one person who can legitimately do something about it, typically twice per week. Beyond this, we are also actively working with all our subscriber Trusts to help improve their methods of acting on feedback they receive - from both staff and the public.

For Trusts without subscriptions, we compile a list of anonymised suggestions and send them to at least two board members, at least once a month.  Of course, we expect reports of serious problems to be taken seriously and investigated. As importantly, we consider our submissions to Trust leaders to act as a strong indication that current listening methods are insufficient, and that there is a lot more wisdom among staff and patients than is currently being used for improvement.

Protecting your identity

We promise to protect your identity, if you've asked us to do this. Here is how.

For all submissions to Tell Florence, we ask you to share and validate your email address. This is necessary to ensure that submissions come from real people, and aren't spam, scams or AI powered bots. How we use this email depends on you. We give three options - Open, Confidential and Anonymous. What these mean is outlined below.

Open

If you've made an open submission, your email address will be shared with anyone in the Trusts who asks for it and has legitimate reasons to do so. The initial submission of reports and suggestions will not have your email in it, so as to ensure all ideas are considered on their merits, rather than their authors.

Wherever possible, we encourage you to make open submissions. Having a name attached to a report or suggestion adds significant weight to it, and, of course, it makes it easier for you to be part of the solution. This said, we understand that not everyone feels comfortable sharing their identity and it's not always appropriate to do so, hence the other two options.

Confidential

Confidential submissions still make it possible for people in your Trust to know who you are, but this is far more tightly controlled. Once again, the initial submission of reports and suggestions will not have your email in it, so as to ensure all ideas are considered on their merits, rather than their authors.

Requests to share your email address would only be honoured from members of the Trust board, and with a  legitimate reason to do so. Moreover, your identity would not be shared directly with anyone named in your submission.

Anonymised

When you make an anonymised submission, your identity and contact details will be protected by Tell Florence and Clever Together. Nobody outside of our team will be given this information, nor details that might reasonably enable them to deduce it.

If people in the Trust need more information, they will be able to communicate with you, anonymously, through our Platform Assured Anonymous Communication feature. This means that they will be able to pose questions that Tell Florence ensures are communicated to you. You will then have the option to respond, or not. Responding will also be anonymised, so they'll know what you said, but not who you are.

Of course, we make an important exception to anonymity for any illegal behaviour. If you seek to exploit or damage the Tell Florence service or try to use it towards ends that are against UK law, we will no longer guarantee your anonymity.
